Things to Do in Branson, MO
You won’t want to come to Branson without catching one of the live shows its famous for. There are so many in different genres you’ll find one that fits your style perfectly. There are museums like the Titanic Museum, the Silver Dollar City theme park, White Water Branson, and the Branson Railway to entertain you. But you don’t have to spend a dime if you go to places like Table Rock Lake where you can enjoy watersports of all kinds, Table Rock Dam, Henning State Forest, walk around on the famed W. Highway 76 to people watch, or even the Curling Vine Winery which offers a free tour.

Chateau on the Lake Resort Spa is the place to go for a bit of luxury when you’re planning on playing at Silver Dollar City. On W. Highway 76, you’ll find plenty of national chain hotels and little motels to stay, all complete with Branson’s distinctive charm. Clarion Hotel once hosted former president George H. W. Bush, and if you want something fancy with afternoon tea, you’ll want the Hotel Grand Victorian. Coming with kids? The Grand Country Resort is the best place with an indoor mini-golf center and water park.

Around the winter holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas, it’s the best time to visit Branson. It’s a place that truly celebrates the spirit of the holidays. It’s also good for a summer trip from June to August because of all the family-friendly activities though it gets hot and very crowded. The best hotel rates are found in January and February, however due to the frigid winter temperatures, big attractions like Silver Dollar City and White Water Branson are closed. The hotel rates tend to stay reasonable all year though, even during busy seasons which is why Branson makes such a great place to vacation.
Branson, MO History
Branson first began in the early 1800s. It started with a small store located at a riverboat stop opened by Rueben Branson in 1882. It became a post office too and was then listed as Branson, Missouri. During the 1880s and 1890s, the area was known for tomato canning. In 1884, settlers began to move in on the promise of free land in the Ozarks.
