Things to Do in Los Angeles, California
While Los Angeles does have Disneyland and Universal theme parks, the biggest draw is seeing the Hollywood sign, the Walk of Fame, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, Santa Monica Pier, the La Brea Tar Pits, Rodeo Drive, and the countless museums (over 100 of them) flecked throughout the city. You don’t have to shell out gobs of money to enjoy Los Angeles though. Venice Beach, the Getty Center and the Hollywood Bowl are just a few of many things to do without pulling out your wallet. Feel like a celebrity during your stay in Los Angeles at some of the most iconic hotels where you’re very likely to spot someone famous. The Beverly Wilshire of Pretty Woman fame is always a prime choice. There’s also the Viceroy, the Hollywood Roosevelt, Chateau Marmont and The Standard, which are anything but standard in luxury. Los Angeles is best to visit from March to May and between September and November. You’ll find less crowds, making it easier to check out all the sights. Also, the temperatures are less severe during these travels times as is the smog, making walking around to the outdoor attractions a much more pleasant experience. Bargain hunters should come in winter though, if they can stand the rain that tends to occur in January and February. Prices are considerably lower during the rainy season and can net you big savings.

Los Angeles was officially created on September 4, 1781. Village settlers from Sonora and Sinaloa in Mexico called it home. This mixed group of Spaniards, Indians, Mestizos and Blacks created the territory which changed ownership from Spain to Mexico. It was originally called El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de Los Angeles meaning “The Town of Our Lady the Queen of the Angels” but thankfully this was shortened to Los Angeles when it became an official part of the US in 1847. Today, it is most visited for it’s beautiful beaches and movie-star attractions, and noted for its culture of healthier eating and active lifestyle.
